Many people enjoy gambling, whether it’s betting on a horse or playing poker on the Internet. Most people who gamble don’t have a problem, but some lose control of their gambling.

Legalized gambling has become one of their rapid growing industries in America. The ever growing popularity of this game has made most people related to this industry make a lot of money.

Unfortunately, gambling has become a type of addiction for most people who are involved in this game. People may look at this game as a pleasure seeking behavior but sometimes, it becomes really difficult to get rid of this activity or even avoid a certain type of emotional pain.

In a wider perspective, addiction to gambling is a type of behavior that results in major disruptions in any area of life. One can suffer in one’s physical, social or even vocational area.

According to the American Psychological Association, compulsive gambling can be categorized or referred to as a type of mental disorder of impulse control. It is also referred to as a type of chronic & progressive disease that’s both diagnosable & treatable. According to a research, about 2 to 4 percent of Americans have already developed a gambling addiction.

The causes of pathological gambling are not known yet. However, researches have made many observations & came to the following conclusion as excess exposure to gambling under certain circumstances in which it is valued, a greater capacity for self deception or state of feeling intolerable such as depression, helplessness or guilt.

An addicted gambler would exhibit the following symptoms: lying, stealing money or other assets, loss of control, illegal action and many more.

The state of preoccupation occurs when the gambler constantly thinks about gambling. The individual may recall his or her experience in the past. The life of the gambler gets restricted to gambling & different way to acquire money for gambling. The gambler in this phase may spend money that’s meant for some other purposes in order to fulfill the satisfaction gained by gambling.

The treatment of gambling addiction needs first the treatment of the causes. There are many different therapies to get rid of gambling addiction, but sometimes the intervention of a specialist is needed.

In a traditional game of blackjack a dealer will only reveal one of their two cards. While this does help a good player to realistically estimate what their chances of beating the dealer might be, it is in fact only an educated guess. There are so many possibilities that most players involved in a standard game of blackjack tend to focus their playing strategy on their own hand.

Also in a standard game of blackjack the dealer must look at their “hole card” (the one remaining face down) if their top card is at a ten value. This prevents players from betting against a dealer that all ready has “blackjack” and losing more money. If a dealer has hit “blackjack” all bets are lost, and a new hand will begin.

There are also many rules variations in blackjack that make for different dealer requirements, such as “S17” and “H17” games which oblige a dealer to hit or not hit if they deal themselves a seventeen. Currently, there are over one hundred different methods for playing Blackjack under different rules and methods. One of them is known as “Double Exposure”.

What happens in a game of “double exposure blackjack” is that both of the dealer’s cards are revealed. This is a great deal of information for all of the players at a table, but it comes with a few variations to the standard rules of a traditional Blackjack game. It also may make some players change their usual strategies.

For example, the payout amounts are dramatically changed; instead of the usual three to two payout for a “blackjack” (meaning a five dollar wager pays a seven dollar and fifty cent win) for “Double Exposure Blackjack” the payout is always “even money” which is a one to one payout. This means the player wins only the amount they bet.

Another rule variation that applies to “Double Exposure Blackjack” is around “pushing”. When a dealer and a player tie for scores this is referred to as a “push” or “pushing”. What it usually means is that the player’s bid remains on the table and they neither win nor lose. In a game of “Double Exposure Blackjack” however a “push” actually means the player loses their bet. The only exception is if the player alone has a “blackjack” – which is a two card twenty-one.

Final variants to standard rules apply to gaming strategies such as the popular “double down” and “splitting”. Many casinos eliminate these options for the players involved in a game of “Double Exposure Blackjack”.

These modifications to the rules make the game less gainful to a player and tend to re-even the odds of winning or losing. For example, a player must get a “hard” twenty to beat the dealer’s twenty. This means that the player is obliged to get the high score from their own original two cards, without “hitting” again. While the dealer can still beat their twenty with as many cards as they need to reach the figure.

The nature of the human being is one of the most important ingredients in a complicated gambling business. Each of the elements implied in the equation: a casino and a gambler want to win money from each other and the chances are equal for both of them is the gambler interest is on the rise.

Until 1962 the game blackjack was not very popular, though percentage wise the profit rate was exclusively high. After publication of the book by Thorp the situation changed radically. Thorp became an internationally famous personality, casinos were terrified that thus everyone could learn the system of Thorp and would start beating casinos winning huge amounts of money.

The results of this panic are well-known. The majority of casinos cardinally changed the blackjack rules creating even a larger overbalance in comparison with the previous set of rules. These introductions were effective a few weeks only as the majority of casinos’ clients simply refused to play a game with such bad rules.

Subordinating to the law of supply and demand casinos had to quickly restore traditional rules for all. After this gamblers started immediately to play again, more than that in considerably larger quantities. The popularity of Thorp’s book played into the hands of casinos. Blackjack started to attract crowds of people who thought they could “beat a dealer” only after they had read one book.

But the fact remained that casinos’ visitors continued to lose the same amounts of money while playing blackjack as before. Only the number of gamblers increased a hundred times. The majority of those who had read the book simply didn’t understand the way the calculation of tens given in the book worked, and those who got to the bottom didn’t take enough pains so as to master the system of calculation from A to Z. Casinos observed in surprise the incredibly increased profits.

Over that period of time a number of books on blackjack were published. The game gathered pace. Casinos were setting more and more tables. Blackjack was becoming the most popular game in casinos having outrun the previous leader craps.

Casinos were once again overcome by the fit of paranoia. They started to suspect that the systems developed with the help of research methods could considerably influence their profits. Casinos started to introduce a multi-pack blackjack instead of a one-pack blackjack to struggle against the system game.

Finally, up to the present moment a small number of professionals still win in blackjack. And will win in the future. There is no doubt that it will get still more and more difficult to win in blackjack. However, there difficulties only make gambling wits work harder and harder. Right away new game systems are being worked out in many heads and at many computers of the world.

It is important to understand that gamblers always have a hope. They can change games and can develop theory of probability. However the strategies developed by information, probability calculus and technology the secure winning at blackjack is measured even by the ability of the casinos or of the other player to counteract.

The basic strategy for Blackjack is to compare your hand to that of the dealer’s showing card. The basic card values are straightforward enough, but when you pull a soft-hand or can double down you are in a position to make a strong play if you know what you are doing.

In playing blackjack is not luck that is required but strategy. In the game of blackjack the cards received by the dealer are considered to either be a soft or a hard hand.

A soft-hand is an ace, counted as 11 and any other card below the value of ten. For example, if you receive an Ace and a 6, your soft hand total is 17. This hand gets its name because the ace can be either one or eleven as necessary. The big advantage to a soft hand is that you can take hits with less risk of busing. But that doesn’t mean you can be carefree about how you play your hand.

If you have an ace with an 8 or higher then hold your hand and don’t take a hit. By playing the ace as 11 you have 19, which is a hand you should always stand on. In the case your cards are an ace with 7 take a hit if the dealer’s showing card is 9 or better.

But if a player finds himself in the situation to have an ace with six or less then you should always take a bit even though this means you are taking a risky hit on 17 you can always bail yourself out if you bust by using the ace as a 1.

Doubling down is another situation you need to master if you want to win at blackjack. Doubling down allows you to double you initial bet in certain circumstances. If played correctly you can offset the house advantage and that is an opportunity not to be missed keeping in mind though that casinos have different rules when a player opt for a double down strategy.

You should go for the double down strategy according to following rules:

If your have card values of 9 to 11 then double down, if you play the game of blackjack according to statistics you will have great chance to win because there are so many cards with a value of 10 to draw.

When holding a soft hand you should double down only when you can exploit a weak dealer card. The way to play an soft hand for doubling down is as follows:

If you have an ace with 8-9, just stand as this is a strong hand so don’t double down.
If you have an ace with 6.-7 then double down and take a hit if the dealer is showing a weak 3-6, and especially 4.-6 you are on the right track.
If you have an ace with 4.-5 only double down if the dealer is holding a weak 4.-6.
If you have an ace with 2-3 then only double down if the dealer is showing a 5-6.

Bear in mind that blackjack revolves around math and statistics. By knowing how to play these strategies you can take advantage of favorable hands when they come you way.

If you can use several methods of depositing and withdrawal funds, for example, you have an account with e-wallets such as moneybookers or neteller then this issue will not restrict your choice.

The next question is: what poker game and at what limits are going to play? Texas hold’em limit and no limit, also single and multi-table hold’em tournaments are popular at any online room, but those who prefer Omaha poker, and stud poker have to choose the most attended rooms (Party, Stars, Full Tilt) to find the opponents. The same refers to those who love high stakes, not all online poker rooms even in holdem have players who stake $50/$100 or higher.

Most poker players want to win money, so they look for weaker poker opponents. Lately the trend of leveling the poker opponents in different poker rooms is becoming more and more obvious, nonetheless Party and casino poker rooms are considered to have less professional poker players (Prima networks, Boss Media, Playtech, Pacific Poker).

Poker player may have specific requirements to the poker room software, for example, non-downloaded software is offered by poker rooms of Ongame, Â2Â, Prima and Party Poker. Many poker rooms allow to reduce the size of tables, and the computer screen without overlay holds four table with the resolution 1024ő768. For somebody the facility of Poker Tracker can be a criteria. One can buy Tracker and use it, other poker players prefer poker rooms that are not allowed the Poker Tracker.

In general, it is not about WHERE you play but HOW you play. So, choose the poker room with sufficient number of opponents at your selected limit, convenient depositing and withdrawal funds options, maybe good bonus and go ahead!

The game.
After registration, log-in and enter the lobby of the online poker room. Here, as a rule, a poker player will find out the number of players, latest news, choose options, enter the cash desk to make deposit. But the main thing is the choice of the poker games. A poker player may choose the necessary game (holdem, Omaha, stud, etc.), its type (limit, unlimited, pot-limit), cash or tournaments (sit&go or multi table), limits. The number of poker players and anticipants is shown for each poker table and also average jackpot, number of poker players at the flop and number of hands per hour. The poker player can view information about all the players of the selected poker table in anew window. The player may join the vacant table, or wait list (the player can wait for the first vacated table at the particular limit or particular table).

To make the first deposit, enter the cash desk and deposit the required sum, choosing the payment method.

When the table opens, the poker player may take any vacant seat. Appearance of the players and the table differ from one poker room to another, but the principle is the same everywhere – oval table with seats around it. Chat option is usually at the bottom of the poker room site, as well as options and buttons for decision-making. While it is no your turn to lead, you may use the buttons of preliminary choice of action. Tick one of the proposed flags and when it is your turn, it will be done automatically. If you have not performed preliminary choice, then you have to select one of three buttons: Fold, Call, Raise. You can use mouse to operate, but some poker rooms allow to play with keyboard using “hot buttons”. You pocket cards are displayed next to your name, general cards are put in the centre of the table.

The lure of this game is that you only need a pair of dice and a few friends and you’ve got all you need for a game of Craps.

However, it is the casino version of the game that gives Craps its reputation of being a fast paced, exciting game. Players often begin with this game in the casino because of its ease of play. The basic concept is this: you place a bet on what is referred to as the “passline bet.” You make your wager before you roll the dice. If you roll a 7 or 11, then you win. If you roll a 12, 3 or 2, you lose. Any other number becomes the point number, meaning that number must be rolled again before the seven for you to win anything. If you roll the seven before you roll the point number, then you lose.

However, you do have the option to bet again in addition to your original bet. It is known as the odds bet: meaning the casino (online or real) does not have their usual house advantage and it also hedges on true odds. Many casinos and online casino sites offer lessons for Craps as it is one of the most popular and exciting games played. There is usually a great amount of money riding on Craps games and the atmosphere around the Craps table is filled with cheering spectators, all vying for the opportunity to see a player win big. This is the best way to get in the game when you are checking out a casino.

A huge attraction at casinos across the country, the classic roulette wheel remains one of the most exciting casino games available.

Here’s how roulette works: the wheel consists of slots or “pockets” numbered from 1 to 36, which are either red or black. The standard American casino roulette wheel also contains two green slots: 0 and 00 (many European wheels eliminate the 00, which creates more favorable odds for players). Casino players can bet on one, two, three, four or six numbers; or they can choose to bet red or black; high or low; odd or even. Single numbers pay the highest, while either/or bets are lowest. In a casino, the person who spins the wheel is called a “croupier.” When all bets are placed, the croupier spins the wheel and a ball bounces from slot to slot until finally coming to rest in one of them. A casino roulette wheel is a lively place to be when it’s spinning; players love to shout and encourage the wheel to stop in their favor!

The green slots in roulette are where casinos make their money. If the roulette ball lands in the 0 slot, the game ends and all players receive half their original bets back. However, if the dreaded 00 is spun, the House (the casino) keeps all the bets. You can bet that in just about any casino, the croupier is hoping for a big fat double zero.

The relativity of these definitions is obvious. Athletic games (boxing, football or any other type) surely contain intellectual component. In every type of games we have to think. The majority of famous athletes today prefer to keep their personal athletic diaries where they describe in every detail all of their competition and training matters.

Standing apart from others is the third type of games: gambling and casino games.
The definition of gambling and casino games based on the idea of the game, where the final result (victory or defeat) is achieved by chance. In such kinds of games the athletic or intellectual or any others qualities of the competitors are not principal. Believe it or not but according to this classification poker belongs to the second category, intellectual games. Let’s turn to the more detailed review of the latter.

Intellectual games. Games with almost perfect information and games with inexact information.

Games with almost perfect information: the idea of the game where all the game information (the position, the players’ actions) is fully open to all participants of the game.

To tell the truth there is restricted information even in that kind of games. That is: every player has its own idea of the game action and these thoughts as a rule are unknown to others. Chess is the most striking example of intellectual games with almost perfect information.

Games with inexact information: the idea of the game, where the part of information is mutually hidden from all its participants. The information type can be different. For example in backgammon the game position and players’ actions are fully open, however, the result of future dice toss is unknown to all of participants. In turn, in poker the scope of hidden information is bigger: the unknown information is not only the future coming out of cards from a pack but also the cards of each participant because they are hidden from the rest participants of the game.

We have made this preliminary analysis in order to draw the readers’ attention to the comparison of two types of intellectual games. As an example for a game with almost perfect information we will examine chess, as this game is probably well-known to our readers.

In the tournament took part six players who have been competing during seven days in gambling of different kinds of poker. A champion was determined by voting and that was Johnny Moss. This tournament provoked a poker boom among people and attracted more audience. Many people expressed their will to take part in the next similar tournament. Binion took decision to continue organizing such tournaments and united them under the name World Series of Poker (WSOP). Every year the number of WSOP participants grew in geometric progression. If in 1971 the number of participants made 14 persons, in 2004 it made 1700, in 2005 – 5800, in 2006 – 8900 and in 2007 – over 6 300.

WSOP is the greatest tournament but besides that a great number of the other attractive and popular tournaments took place in Paris, London, Vienna, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Moscow etc.

Poker was given a powerful incentive in development and popularization in the 90s of the past century with development of the internet network and appearance of on-line poker rooms. Poker turned to be the most pertinent and the most interesting gamble for millions of users all over the world. Poker fever in Internet is still going on. Mostly thanks to internet a number of people willing to compete in “live” tournaments, clubs is growing by leaps and bounds. And now nobody is surprised by the fact that the winners of prestigious poker competitions are skillful casino players experienced in online poker room games.

Today poker is no more a gambling, it turned into a popular socially important phenomenon. Thus, according to the data of the American Gambling Association in 2005 the number of people willing to play poker made 35% of the US population aging from 21 to 39, 18% of the US population aging from 40 to 49, 15% of the US population aging from 50 to 64, 11% of the US population aging over 65. In conformity with the results of the polls by the Association for most of this people poker is more than a gamble, it turned into a way of communication, a nice leisure.

Poker became largely covered by many medias. Popularity of the gamble in the modern world lets co-exist a dozen specialized magazines dedicated exclusively to poker , online poker rooms, poker players, poker strategies. The most popular of them are the magazines “Poker Europa”, “Card Player”, “Poker Magazine”, “Bluff”, “Woman Poker Player” etc. The last few years were marked by a burst of poker. Poker turned to be extremely entertaining sport gamble.

Poker alone includes variations such as stud, draw, Texas Hold-em and many others. Gambling houses often feature so many games it’s hard to know where to start. Indeed, some people take their first night at a given casino as sort of an orientation tour to learn what kind of gambling is on offer.

The casino’s electronic versions of the regular games are also quirky and fun. There are serious video poker players who stake out the high-paying machines, and gamble only on them. Those who watch a serious video poker player long enough will learn some of their strategies, like the “Jacks or better” version where players favor hands, as the name implies, with a face card in it.

Casino dice games are exciting, but sometimes complicated. Variations include “street craps,” “bank craps” and what some people call “Grand Hazard”. It’s good to know what version of game is going on at the table before you lay your money down. Is the casino paying winners who roll seven or eleven? Or are you gambling, roulette style; on the numbers that come up on the dice roll?

Roulette is said to be one of the most challenging games in the casino. The roulette wheel has up to 38 numbered positions for the little ball to land in. You can start your gambling on a single number, odds or evens and other combinations. If you are a beginner, it’s best to research this one online or at your local bookstore first, as the game can be not only mesmerizing, but also expensive for a beginner.
