If you have ever played poker before you know that you can obviously see all the players around you since you play in a circle (unless youíre playing online poker). You just figured out the most important part of poker. You may be thinking that thatís impossible.

You probably think that the most important part is the cards; what cards you get how to use them, ECT… These are very important, you are correct, but it all starts with your ability to use your body language to your advantage. The cards are going to be relatively the same for all the players. Luck usually doesnít factor in well in poker since everyone has the same chance to get the same cards.

In case luck begins to play a large role in your game then what can you does? A player always has 4 basic choices; you can check, bet or call, raise, or fold. If you are not getting good cards you can always fold right?
This is not always a good idea. You may be leaving large amounts of money on the table in the long run after a few initial folds. Sure you seemingly get away with losing less but you give up the chance to even try. Bluffing is the art of misguidance. You want them to think you have a bad hand one second and the next a great hand with all the best cards that are sure to win you the pot.

How do you accomplish such a thing? Simply with your body language this can be done. If you have good cards act happy. You may not want them to know that you have good cards but itís a way to change there thinking; now every time you act “happy” they will think you have good cards and may fold.
If you have bad cards and you act happy they might fold because now they are afraid.

What you want to do is create a complicated pattern of sad, happy, indifferent, ecstatic, angry, ECT. Actions for certain hands. You want to throw them off but try and lure them into a safe zone where they think they understand your bluffing pattern and then hit them with the reality. As long as they are trying to keep up with whatever pattern you have, you will have them all under your control.

In one game of poker tournament I was playing in I decided to create very complex poker faces. They where not good they where not bad. I scrunched my face, grabbed my lip and scratched my leg; I did the craziest thing that nobody understood. They had no idea what my faces meant so they assumed that when I didnít raise that my cards where not good and they would raise and raise. When it came time to show, guess who took home the pot.

The moral of this little story is that you have to be creative. This is step two of poker (after learning the basics and learning them by heart), body language is very important. If you are known as a newbie and you come in they will expect you to show your cards loud and clear through your body language. You can mislead and kill your competition with a good poker face.

Texas Hold’em commonly known as ‘Hold’em’ has become the world’s most popular poker game, both in live casinos and online at PokerStars.

Before you begin playing Hold’em, you’ll want to learn the rules. In Hold’em, each player is dealt two private cards (known as ‘hole cards’) that belong to them alone. Five community cards are dealt face-up, to form the ‘board’. All players in the game use these shared community cards in conjunction with their own hole cards to each make their best possible five-card poker hand. In Hold’em, a player may use any combination of the seven cards available to make the best possible five-card poker hand.

In Hold’em, as with other forms of poker, the available actions are ‘fold’, ‘check’, ‘bet’, ‘call’ or ‘raise’. Exactly which options are available depends on the action taken by the previous players. Each poker player always has the option to fold, to discard their cards and give up any interest in the pot. If nobody has yet made a bet, then a player may either check (decline to bet, but keep their cards) or bet. If a player has bet, then subsequent players can fold, call or raise. To call is to match the amount the previous player has bet. To raise is to not only match the previous bet, but to also increase it.

If there is more than one remaining player when the final betting round is complete, the last person to bet or raise shows their cards, unless there was no bet on the final round in which case the player immediately clockwise from the button shows their cards first. The player with the best five-card poker hand wins the pot. In the event of identical hands, the pot will be equally divided between the players with the best hands. Hold’em rules state that all suits are equal.

After the pot is awarded, a new hand of Hold’em is ready to be played. The button now moves clockwise to the next player, blinds and antes are once again posted, and new hands are dealt to each player. It is simple and it is consistently based upon strategy.

In this article I want to work through a hand that I played a few weeks ago at NL100. The game was full-ring and I had my Poker Office working alongside so that I could see my HUD (heads up display) so that I could ascertain the betting patterns of my opponents. The game was fairly tight but I had a loose-aggressive player to my left with over 50% VPIP (voluntary put money into the pot) over 400 hands.
If you are interested in playing some ub referral codes games, we suggest you to use this William Hill Coupon Code for increasing your winning chance! If that’s not enough for you, then you can use this Full Tilt Poker referral codes for increasing your winning chance even more.

It was folded around to me in the hijack seat (seat to the right of the cut-off) and I had the Ad-9d. My stack was $143 and in this situation with only two players still to act who have position on me then Ad-9d is good enough for a raise. I would also mix in some calls for balance as well but I would raise with this hand around 85-90% of the time in this situation.

I raised to $3.50 and the cut-off folded but the loose aggressive button called (stack size $157). Both blinds folded their hands so we had a heads up pot with $8.50 in the middle. The flop came Qh-Qc-9c giving me a fair hand. There are potential flush and straight draws out there plus overcards to my nines so I definitely need to bet here. The only question is how much? So I make a bet of $6.50 as I would ideally prefer to take this pot down right here and now.

For novices, the wisest advice that anyone can give is to be patient. Contrary to what you might think, you don’t have to play every hand to win a Holdem. Sit tight and study your opponents, watch their moves, take note of everything – from facial twitches, hand tremors and other body movements. A useful tool for the newbie is a poker calculator.

When a player is playing loose, that gives you a clue that it would be difficult to bet a loose player out of a hand. You should be wary, however, when your opponent is a tight player, chances are he would only play if he is holding tough hands to beat.

Again, it would be a great idea to watch your opponent carefully. Take note of how they play the game. You would know if a player is a tight or loose player depending on how he would react when you raise his bet. If you think that a player is a loose player, here are some things that you have to know to have the upper hand against a loose player:

A loose player would bluff his way throughout the whole game. Take note of how a particular loose player reacts on calls, bet raises, flops in each round. Predictably, a loose player does not have great control of his game and would react in the same manner that you have previously observed. This would give you an automatic edge over a loose player.

A tight player, on the other hand, would be a little bit harder to beat. They are always on-guard and are very good at mental games. They would be very careful about revealing too much. Their game is usually getting the large-term prize. It is only at the later rounds that they would employ all means to raise the bet and take it under your nose.

Learning to play is straightforward; just by reading this small section you can learn enough to start playing immediately or by reading this informational poker rules page. To start a hand of Texas Hold’em, the two players to the left of the player that is considered to be dealing the cards are each required to pay a forced bet called a blind. The player that is acting as the dealer is shown by the use of a marker called a dealer button. After the blinds are paid every player receives two cards face down. These cards are known as pocket cards or hole cards. A round of betting referred to as the pre-flop round then follows.

The dealer then produces the flop which consists of three cards turned face up in the centre of the table and another round of betting occurs. Betting at this stage is known as betting on the flop. Any cards dealt in the middle of the table are known as board-cards. You can use any combination of the board-cards and your hole cards to make your five card hand.

Another board-card, known as the turn, is then dealt and followed by the third round of betting. Betting at this stage is known as betting on the turn. At this stage you have six cards available from which you can make your five card hand. The final board card known as the river is then dealt. For players remaining in the hand the river is a make or break point. All seven of the cards available to you can be seen and you will know what your best hand is. The river is followed by the final round of betting. If more than one player is still in the hand after this final round of betting a showdown takes place, in which all remaining players reveal their hole cards.

Once the winner has been decided the chips stack up in front of him, the dealer button passes one place to the left and another hand begins. The best way to learn is to play, and if you want to play Texas Holdem you’ve come to the right place.

Gladiators.
Mathematical developments of the game pioneers and creation of simple and efficient counting systems incited the appearance of a great galaxy of professional players and experts of blackjack.Blackjack has almost same popularity as poker .

Revere invented a new simple counting system and first described the method of reducing the current score to the real one. Stanford Wong amplified and improved Hi-Lo system, and also developed the Halves system. Lance Humble, Brison, Gordon, Harvey Dubner, – all these giants made a great contribution to the development of the methods of the game.

In late 70s the professional gambler Al Francesco, probably created the first blackjack team in history. He hired the enthusiasts, taught them Lawrence Revere’s counting system and sent them to play. He invented and put into practice the principle of “BIG PLAYER” – when the part of the team is humbly playing low and some drunken and wealthy fish makes high bets on the given signals.

Ken Uston also belonged to this team. Uston was the vice president of fund stock exchange at that time. However after meeting Revere he quitted the stock exchange and changed his strict outfit for magnificent bush of hair, golden chains and silk shirts with huge collars in the style of that time.

Uston played for Francesco’s team for quite a long time and with varied success, but his ego did stand it under the pressure of his own ego. He had a very high opinion of himself and wanted to be the first in everything. He left Francesco and wrote several books about his adventures. The books simply exploded the gambling world.

The book “BIG PLAYER” revealed the secrets of team game. The Book “Million Dollar Blackjack” is stuffed with unbelievable stories in intervals explaining the technical aspects also presents different cards counting systems. Uston made people believe that one can beat casino playing blackjack. Win a lot. Millions of dollars. Also everyone found out how casinos react to the professional gamblers – slams, insinuations, blacklists, crooked gambling, false accusations. Uston was in the blacklists all over the world, having won with his several teams about 8 million dollars.

By the way, Al Francesco and many other players are still dissatisfied with Uston’s actions who decided to publish the methods of the game which were then available only to the few. But Uston would not be himself if he had not done it.

The next outburst of his popularity was in early 80s, when Ken won the case against a casino in New Jersey (Resorts International Hotel Inc.). Since then no casino of this state (unlike, for example, Las Vegas in Nevada) is not eligible to prohibit playing to person who can count cards. On the other hand, this verdict made the rules in Nevada much worse than in Vegas.

The next wave of the struggle between the casino and counters relates to Uston’s era. The casinos understood, that well-financed team of pros can cause great losses. And then the multidecked games, frequent riffle were coming into fashion and several good rules just died away. There appeared special detective agencies who spied on the professional players, collected the necessary information about them and distributed it among the casinos.

Uston created new methods of the game, used makeup, recruited more and more people in his teams and started playing abroad. He also was writing new books, was starring on TV, was writing new articles, was developing new counting systems. By the way Ken, wrote the book on optimal game strategy for Pac-Man (arcade video game). It’s a video game not for money, he was just interested in it.

One of the most scandalous Kenny’s projects was creating the team against the casino with using the computer. They used hidden on the body and in the shoes micro chips that calculated the current situation in the game more precisely than any other “human” strategy and gave the necessary signals to the player. His teams almost broke several casinos, but in a while they were caught, arrested and accused of fraud, the computer was confiscated. However, the experts including FBI experts, proved that there was no fraud and the accusations were withdrawn. In two weeks the Supreme Court of the USA of Nevada State made the usage of computing devices in casinos illegal…

Kenny was a good guy, the heart of the company, first class jazz musician, loved by women and press. He had great plans on making a film, writing new books, arranging one more trial, and surely new projects on blackjack. His life was suddenly interrupted in 1983 and the version that casinos are privy to his death is not cast back yet.

The World Series of Poker is the most anticipated and crowning event in the world of poker. It wasn’t a fad that was made to be televised into some sort of fashion. It was quality poker.

Back in the day, men smoked cigars and sipped whisky while eyeing up their opponents. It was a game made for men like Nicolas Dandolos, commonly referred to as Nick the Greek, and Benny Binion. These two were champion gamblers and poker players back during the 1940s. It was no wonder then when Nick the Greek approached Binion to set up a world class match. Nick challenged the supposed champion of all poker players, Johnny Moss.

Binion agreed to the plan and he set up the match between Dandolos and Moss. There was one exception though, Binion made sure to attract as much attention to the event as possible by holding it in public. It was to be on public display and seen as a marathon. After five long months of discussion and compromises, all parties agreed to continue with the match. Thus, the World Series of Poker was born in 1949. It was a grueling event where the players only took breaks to catch up on sleep. Moss came out on top and reportedly took home around $2 million in cash, nearly an entire casino’s worth in 1949.

Nearly 21 years later, Binion decided to try his hand with the WSOP again. It was 1970, and this time he officially deemed it the WSOP. And once again, Johnny Moss did what he does best and walked away with the pot.

By now Binion knew he had something particularly special in the poker world. He continued the World Series of Poker yearly from then on. By 1982, there were 104 top poker players signed up for the WSOP. Now in 2006, at the height of the poker craze, everyone believes he or she is the next gift to poker. Last year, there were 5,619 people entered into the main event. This year, the numbers are predicted to be over 8,000 entrants. The size of the WSOP has changed, but the quality has not. It is the biggest, most anticipated poker tournament for any poker player.

Hopefully by now you have got a good read on the player, their tendencies, strengths and weaknesses. However, it may be important to know that poker players often switch modes when it comes down to heads up play. A poker players heads up play may be completely different than their regular play. Here are some tips to help you improve your heads up Texas Hold’em poker strategy.

1 – An Ace in the Hole

The 1 rule of heads up poker play is that when you have an ace as a hole card you will usually be in a dominant position pre flop. You should then raise/re-raise strong to see what the opponent’s reaction will be. Often times an opponent will fold (depending on the specific style of the poker player) for fear of the ace or a pocket pair. Sometimes you may get called but remember, in heads up poker players have a tendency to make loose calls. Odds are you will still be in a dominant position.

2 – Lower Your Expectations

While playing heads up Texas Hold’em poker, chances are that you cannot afford to wait on a good hand. A quality hand in heads up poker is not the same as when playing with a bigger group. You may have to settle with J-6 offsuit and just see what happens. The odds are that many times your opponent will have a bad looking hand as well.

3 – Try To Pick Up A Betting Pattern

Many poker players have an extremely difficult time playing heads up. Some collapse under the pressure and others become painstakingly obvious in how they bet in heads up. Make sure you keep an eye on your opponents betting habits. Every now and then you may want to call a hand that you know your probably beat in just to see what the opponent has. If you can pick up an opponents betting habits it’s almost as if they are showing you their hands.

4 – Mix Up Your Play

Even if you are not getting the best of cards you must always try to mix up your play to throw your opponent off your scent. Raise with 9-4 suited. Call with A-3 offsuit. This way your opponent cannot pick up a good betting pattern from you. Many poker players are not great when it comes to heads up play. By throwing your opponent off your scent it possible that he/she will be enticed into making a careless all-in call. All it takes is one big mistake in heads up play and you’ll have your opponent right where you want them.

5 – Don’t Over Do the “All-In” Call

Please do not go over board going all-in. This is like leaving your hand up to fate. There is some luck involved in poker but you don’t want to just get by on being lucky.
